Since 1992, the Stichting Pools Podium has been dedicated to promoting Polish
culture in the Netherlands and Dutch culture in Poland. During the Polish Film Days, they are coming to Slachtstraat for a special series of film screenings dedicated to Tribute to the Masters – Wajda & Kieslowski. Experience the timeless works of two of Poland’s most influential filmmakers, Andrzej Wajda and Krzysztof Kieślowski, whose films have shaped European cinema and continue to inspire audiences around the world. Expect unforgettable stories, cinematic artistry, and an evening celebrating the rich heritage of Polish film culture.
In this special programme block, the focus is on Innocent Sorcerers by Andrzej
Wajda. The film marks Wajda’s response to the emerging new tendencies in
contemporary moral cinema and the rise of the European New Wave movement.
With its modern style, sharp dialogue, and intimate portrayal of post-war youth
culture, Innocent Sorcerers became an important turning point in Polish cinema.
Before the main screening, audiences will also be treated to two short films, specially selected to complement the themes and atmosphere of Wajda’s work.
In this special program block, audiences will have the opportunity to watch Three
Colors: White (1994), one of the iconic films by master director Krzysztof Kieślowski.
Before the feature film, two short films will be screened: Can You See? from director Cezary Orłowski and a short tribute to Krzysztof Kieślowski.
After the screening, there will be a special Q&A with filmmaker Marta Kieslowska-
Hryniak in honor of her father, Krzysztof Kieślowski. The conversation will be
moderated by director Cezary Orlowski.
